Gifted Assessments
A gifted assessment provides a focused understanding of a student’s thinking abilities and learning profile. The goal is to help determine whether the student may benefit from enriched programming or additional academic challenge.

Who is it for?
Students 6 years of age and older may benefit from a gifted assessment if they learn new information very quickly and easily. They may also seem emotionally or socially mature for their age. Some gifted children underperform, become bored, or feel frustrated at school because the academic expectations do not match their learning style or level of readiness. If gifted programming is available in your child’s school board, it may help provide a more appropriate level of challenge, engagement, and academic growth.
What is the cost?
The cost of a gifted assessment is $1680. Some extended health or group benefit plans may reimburse part of the fee under psychological services, so families are encouraged to check their coverage before booking.
How is the assessment structured?
The process begins with a one-hour parent meeting to better understand the child’s history and current concerns. Your child then meets with the psychologist for standardized testing in a supportive, one-to-one setting. Testing focuses on thinking abilities and is typically completed in one 1.5-hour testing session.
What happens once the assessment is complete?
Once the testing results and information from home and school have been reviewed, parents attend an hour-long feedback meeting to discuss the results. The findings and recommendations are summarized in a written report that parents may choose to share with teachers. Recommendations are intended to help educators understand the student’s learning strengths and which supports or programming options may be most appropriate.
