About the Service
Has your child’s teacher recommended a psychoeducational assessment for behaviour or learning difficulties?
Is your child worrying excessively or having trouble following routines at school?
Do you think your child might be gifted?
A psychological assessment can help you and your child’s teachers understand their strengths and specific learning and/or behavioural needs. Hummingbird provides comprehensive, detailed assessments tailored to your child. We work to gain a thorough understanding of your child’s entire world— home, school and other social influences in order to create an informed plan of action.
Some of the issues that may be addressed through an assessment include:
Poor attention and concentration
Trouble following instructions and routines
Difficulties making and keeping friends
Learning difficulties
High level of achievement – Gifted assessments
Worries
Low mood
Psychological assessments can help identify whether your child may have a diagnosis such as:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Anxiety Disorders
Learning Disabilities including Dyslexia
Intellectual Disabilities
Following the assessment period, you can expect a report with detailed recommendations that cover:
Implementing behavioural strategies (home and classroom)
Implementing teaching strategies and classroom accommodations
A diagnosis, if applicable. Please note: assessment does not necessarily lead to a diagnosis, though a diagnosis may be appropriate.
