Counselling

Hummingbird offers individual and group counselling services for children and adolescents having difficulty in a variety of areas including regulating their emotions (worry, anger, sadness), making and sustaining relationships with family and peers and self-esteem issues, to name a few. We provide individualized counselling in a safe and nurturing environment that is designed to get to the heart of the issue. Following an exploratory meeting with the parent(s), we meet with the child during one-on-one sessions to assess, treat and provide long-term coping strategies.
Dr. Burhanpurkar employs cognitive behavioural therapy and other proven approaches, leveraging the latest research in the field. She listens, learns and works closely with your child and family to deliver a personalized treatment plan.

Coaching
Does your child have difficulties staying organized or studying effectively for tests?

Parenting can be stressful even at the best of times. It can be helpful for you and your family to receive support and guidance from a trained professional. Dr. Burhanpurkar understands the challenges parents and students face and can teach your child the skills they need for academic and social success. She can help your child develop skills in the following areas;

Dr. Burhanpurkar is trained and certified in use of the PEERS program which has been proven effective in helping children develop their social skills. Children who have been diagnosed with ADHD, Autism or Anxiety Disorder may benefit from this type of coaching.
